Ink isn't cheap, but you can save money by using Inkfarm

One of the big caveats about purchasing a cheap printer is that you may end up paying a lot more for ink cartridges. This is an old trick used by printer companies to ultimately make a tidy profit from selling cheap printers at break-even prices, or even at a loss. But you don't necessarily have to fall into this trap. In this article, I will outline three things you can do to make sure you're not paying more than you have to for your inkjet cartridges.

First things first -- If you aren't buying your ink online, you need to begin doing so from now on. I've done some extensive price comparisons between what online ink stores like Inkfarm charge, compared to regular retailers like Staples or Office Depot. In almost all cases, you'd end up saving a couple dollars or more for your ink cartridges by using an online store. This is true even after you factor in shipping costs. Note, however, that I am assuming you will search for and redeem online promo codes such as Inkfarm coupons that you can get from, among many other similar coupon sites.

Next, you should avoid purchasing OEM cartridges. They typically are the most costly, and also the least environmentally friendly. Instead of wasting your money on OEM products, you should buy one of the following:

1. Compatible cartridges
These are brand new cartridges that will work for your printer. The only difference from an OEM cartridge is that it wasn't made by the original equipment manufacturer. This is no big deal in my opinion, as most compatible cartridges work just as well as OEM cartridges. You can find such cartridges at Inkfarm and many other online ink stores.

2. Remanufactured cartridges
These are cartridges that have been refilled with new ink. This is typically done using machines, although it's possible to refill many cartridges by hand. Buy your remanufactured cartridges from trusted stores like Inkfarm, and you should be in good shape. You'll also save the most money by using these types of cartridges.

I hope these tips help you save a bit on your printer ink. And always remember, when buying anything online, looks for special discounts, promo codes, or online coupons. They can be found practically everywhere, and will save you a few bucks on every order you place.

On a related note, if you are looking to hire a professional printing service instead of doing your own printing, then I recommend using a company called Printplace. For more information about this company, read my article about Printplace that I wrote last month.
